Description

KPV is a bioactive tripeptide fragment derived from the C-terminal sequence of alpha–melanocyte–stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It demonstrates potent anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects by binding to melanocortin receptors and reducing pro-inflammatory cytokine release in various cell models.

Sequence

  • Amino Acid Sequence: Lys–Pro–Val
  • Other Names: α-MSH (11–13); Lys-Pro-Val Peptide

Research & Applications

  • Wound Healing: Promotes keratinocyte migration and accelerates wound closure in vitro, making it a tool for epithelial repair assays.
  • Immune Modulation: Modulates dendritic cell maturation and T-cell activation, useful in autoimmune and transplant research.

Recommended Usage

  • In Vitro: 1 – 50 µM in culture media for inflammation assays.
  • Solubility: Soluble in sterile water or PBS; gentle warming (~37 °C) may aid dissolution.
  • Compatibility: Compatible with serum-free and low-serum formulations.
